Soon after Constantine became an autocrat and moved his residence to Byzantium in 323 BC there was a significant battle in the Hellespont; Constantine's fleet, under the command of Crispus had to clear the entrance to the Hellespont, locked fleet under Licinius Abant team, which consisted of 300 ships. Crispus fleet was divided into two groups and attacked by several lines standing at the entrance, in close close formation, the enemy fleet.
